Insurance Firm Honors Three Employes Here The local office of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company held its fall staff meeting Friday at its office at 72. State Street, The progress of the District and its present standing in the New England territory were discussed by Manager George as well as plans and preparations for sales activities for the remainder of the year. Dinner and dancing were enjoyed in the evening at the Pilots Grill for both the agency and clerical staffs where Paul Dinsmore and his Orchestra turnished the music. The 33rd anniversary of Agent Thomas Poole of Greenville was recognized, Ag well as the 30th anniversary Senior Clerk Grace Bradbury of Old Town and Metropolitan Insurance Consultant Julian Conroy. Each was presented with a remembrance by Mr.

York and Miss Bradbury also received gift from her clerical associates which was presented by Mrs. Ruth Beach, office supervisor. Invited guests of the evening were Manager and Mrs. John Corey of the Waterville District, and attending from the Bangor District were: Mr. and Mrs.

26-Mrs. Lulu M. Pendleton, 64, the wife of Raymond Pendleton and a retired school teacher, died early Friday morning at her residence after a long illness. She was born at Carmel, March 14, 1894, the daughter of Austin and Ellen (Day) Miller. Mrs.

Pendleton had lived in Carmel all her life. She was member of the Carmel Union Church, Penobscot Pomona Grange, and Golden Harvest Grange, the State and National Granges. Besides her husband she is survived by one son, Roger Pendleton of Arlington, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call i at the residence until Sunday morning, Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Carmel Union Church. Interment will be in Ruggles Cemetery, Carmel.

MRS. CLARA CURTIS MRS. LULU PENDLETON 7, MONTICELLO, Sept. 26-Mrs. Clara B.

Curtis, 79, died Thursday in a Houlton hospital following a long illness, She was born in Portsmouth, September 1879, the (Tapley) Crutcher. daughter of Liberty and Alice Mrs. Curtis has been a resident of Monticello for the past 55 years and was the oldest member trustee of the Lake Road Church in Monticello. She -is survived by one son, Francis of Monticello; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The remains are at the Dunn Funeral Home where friends may call Saturday evening from 7 until 9 o'clock.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Lake Road Church in Monticello Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Fred Chapman and the Rev. Philip Gibson officiating. will be in the Monticello Cemetery. MRS.

ISABELLE NUGENT EAGLE LAKE, Sept. 26-Mrs. Isabelle Michaud Nugent, 63, of Bethel, formerly of Eagle Lake, and the wife of George J. Nugent, died September 19 at a Danbury, hospital. She was born at Eagle Lake and had resided in New York City for many years and had lived in Bethel the past 16 Coun- years.

She was a member of the cil of Catholic Women at. St. Mary's Church at Bethel, and the Stony Hill Social Club. Survivors, besides her husband, are six sisters, Mrs. Aurelia Pelletier of Sandy Hook, Miss Hermina Michaud of Plainville, Mrs.

Julia Michaud and Laura Tucker of Eagle Lake, Mrs. Mrs. Annette McManus and Theresa Pelletier of Van Buren; four brothers, Gilbert, George and Adrian, all of Eagle Lake, and R. 8. Michaud of Washington; several nieces and nephews.

A solemn Mass of Requiem was said September 22 at St. Mary's Church, Bethel, Burial was in St. Rose Cemetery, Sandy Hook, MRS. ADDIE PAGE ASHLAND, Sept. 26-Mrs.

Addie Wilcox Page, 35, Thursday morning in a Portland hospital after a short illness. She was born at Wade June 2, 1923, daughter of William and Myrtie Wilcox. Surviving are her husband, Stanley of Ashland; three daughters, Joyce, and Bonnie; one son, Mahlon, all of Ashland; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Wilcox of Chapman; four brothers.

Roy and Sterling both of Chapman, Merle of Perham and Frederick of Easton; three sisters, Mrs. Laura Carter of Mapleton, Mrs. Susie Brockman of California, and Mrs. Hazel Page of Easton; two haif-brothers, Arnold Ambrose of Connecticut, and Beecher Ambrose of Chapman; and a -sister, Mrs. Fern Farley of Friends may call at the residence Saturday after 2 o'clock.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Ashland Advent Christian church with the Rev. Winslow Hall, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Ashland cemetery. MISS EVELYN MERRILL ELLSWORTH, Sept. 26 Miss Evelyn M.

Merrill, 62, died Friday afternoon at a Lamoine nursing home. Miss Merrill was born at Quincy, December 19, 1895, the daughter of Walter L. and Ida (Kealiher) Merrill. She was a member of Irene Chapter, OES of Ellsworth and the Congregational church at DoverFoxcroft. Survivors are a step-father, Albert N.

Merrill of Ellsworth: one half-brother, Osmon N. Merrill of Ellsworth; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Jordan funeral home with the Rev. George Bovill officiating. Committal services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the family lot at a Hartford cemetery.

MRS. SUSAN J. ROWE ELLSWORTH, Sept. 26 Mrs. Susan J.

Rowe, 74, died Friday at a local nursing home. She was born at Ellsworth November 24, 1883, the daughter of Frederick M. and Caroline (Black) Jordan Mrs Rowe was a member of the Ellsworth Unitarian Church, the Women's Alliance, and the Ellsworth Order of Eastern Star. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. John of Ellsworth and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Bragdon Funeral Home with the Rev. Walter Smith officiating. Bearers will be Herbert Lord, Chandler Richmond, Alton Black and Lawrence Collier. Burial will be in Woodbine cemetery. MRS.

JOSEPHINE PARKER EASTPORT, Sept. 26-Mrs. Josephine M. Parker, 83, died Thursday evening at her home after trief iliness. She was born at Pembroke April Newport.

FUNERAL SERVICES VAN BUREN, Sept. 26 -Funeral services for Guy C. Madore were held at St. Bruno's Catholic Church Friday morning. The Rev.

Eugene Cahill, S. M. of Framingham, officiated at the Soleum High Mass of Requiem. He was assisted by the Rev. Fidele Poitras, deacon, and the Rev.

Felix sub-deacon. The Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus attended in a group. Bearers were Ernest McCrossin, Nell Lapierre, Isadore Dumond, James Madore, Joseph R. LaPointe and Albeo LaPointe. Interment was in the family lot, St.

Bruno's Cemetery. CALAIS, Sept. 26 Funeral services for Mrs. Flora Tracey were held Friday afternoon at the Irvine Funeral Home with the Rev. Walter Lyons officiating.

Bearers were Walter McFarlane, Don Mulholland, Oscar Pike and George Interment was in Calais cemetery. L. P. Comer Dies Suddenly Here Friday The death of Lawrence P. Comer, 55, occurred suddenly Friday afternoon at his residence, 76 Cedar Street.

He was born in Bangor, the son of Martin and Mary Carr Comer and had been a lifelong resident. He attended St. Mary's School and Bangor High School. He was an officer of the Fourth Degree Knights in the Knights of Columbus and was Past Grand Knight of that organization. He also was secretary of the Holy Name Society at St.

Mary's Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Emily M. Comer, Bangor; five daughters, Miss Nancy Comer, Bangor, Sister Mary DePorres, Portland, Mrs. Ernest Barrett, Vienna, Mrs. Eugene B.

Kelley, Shrub Oak, N. Y. and Mrs. Walter Thibeau, Bangor; two sons, Lawrence M. and Timothy Comer, Bangor; a brother, John Comer, Augusta; five sisters, Mrs.

Lester Morrill, Manchester, Mrs. Harry Estes, Dover, Mrs. Earl McPherson, Bangor, Mrs. Leonard Daigle, Portsmouth, N. H.

Anne's Episcopal Church will meet at the rectory at 8 o'clock on Monday evening: Electric Service Interruption Set In Area Sunday AUGUSTA, Sept. 26-A scheduled interruption of electric service from 1 to 5 o'clock Sunday afternoon has been announced by the Waterville office of Central Maine Power Company. Approximately 1,200 electric customers in Unity, Albion, Dixmont and Troy will be without electricity during that four hour period, weather permitting. The particular day and time for the service interruption was selected as one which would cause the least customer inconvenience after consulting numerous poultry Retired Judge G. R.

Hadlock Dies At 78 Drugs Star In Market Recovery NEW YORK (AP) Drugs starred Friday in a stock market which recovered part of Thursday's loss. The list. moved forward moder ately despite losses by some of the bluest blue chips. Aircrafts, tobaccos, airlines, rails and most chemicals advanced along. with a variety of selected issues.

Steels, motors, oils, non-ferrous metals and utilities were mixed. Rubbers declined. Parke, Davis soared 7 points in I continued response to a proposed 3-for-1 stock split. Traders got the idea that similar news was not unlikely for other drug shares 50 they advanced in sympathy. The market milled unevenly at the start when the ticker tape fell behind floor transactions for a three-minute period.

Prices improved gradually, inspired by the strides of drugs. The business news background remained favorable. The Associated Press average of 60 stocks rose 50 cents to $193.30 with the industrials up $1.00 to another record high, the rails up 40 cents and the utilities unchanged. Of 1,200 issues traded, 553 rose and 408 fell. There were 106 new highs for the year and 7 new lows.

Volume subsided to 3,420.000 shares from Thursday's 1958 record of 4,490,000. American Stock Exchange prices were irregularly higher on volume of 1,030.000 shares compared with 1,090,000 Thursday. The 9:30 o'clock classes will be for three year olds through high school students. Pilgrim Press graded material will be used this year with the general fall theme of "How the Bible Came To The morning worship at 11 o'clock will include the first fall appearance of the children's choir under the direction of Mrs. Ruth Hanscom. Carl Stratton. The nursery and child care class will be in session during the church hour for any parents wishing to have their children cared for. Mrs. Marjorie Smith entertained the Chat and Sew Club at an all-day outing and and picnic at her cottage Cold Stream Narrows Wednesday. A business meeting was conducted following the dinner by Mrs.

Bessie Achorn, club president. Mrs. Sadie Danforth was secretary pro-tem. It was suggested that the club knit for needy children. The meeting closed with a program of favorite poems.

The next meeting will be with Mrs. Bessie Achorn, 47 Fleming Street. The Rotary Club held its luncheon meeting Wednesday at Taylor's Diner. George E. Lord of the Bangor Club and Kenneth Chapman of the Old Town Club were visiting Rotarians.

WELTS PARKMAN, Sept. 26-Harry Alston Welts, 52, a prominent farmer and lumberman, died Friday as a result of a woods accident at Cambridge. Born at Parkman, October 28, 1905, he was the son of Harry and Bernice (Whitney) Welts, and had been a resident of Parkman all his life. Welts had served as a selectman and road commissioner for the town. He graduated from Guilford High school in 1925 and Farmington Noormal school in 1927.

He was also a member of Mt. Kineo Masonic lodge at Guilford. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth one son, Roger Welts of Parkman; three daughters, Mrs. Ann Curriee of Somers, 10 Sonos aujeta 'SIN Springfield, Mass.

Sept, 26-Mrs. Julia Ellen McAuliffe, 77, the widow of Patrick McAuliffe, died Friday at her home, 27 Water street. She was born at owl's Head, October 24, 1880, the daughter of Alden and Martha (Watson) Dyer. Surviving are a son, Lawrence P. McAuliffe of Thohmaston; three nieces and a nephew.

26 Mrs. Mildred Cochran, 77, died Friday evening at a Dexter hospital after a long illness. She was born September 1, 1881 at- Deer Isle, the daughter of Alfred and Lydia (Robbins) Taylor. Mrs. Cochran was a member of the Newport Grange.

Carl Harrison of Manchester, N. and several grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at ISLESFORD, Sept. 26 George R. Hadlock, 78, who served as judge of Probate Court from 1946 until 1957, died Friday at a Bar Harbor hospital after a short illness.

Judge Hadlock: was a veteran of World War serving 85 lieutenant on a submarine chaser out of the first Naval District Boston. He served as Hancock County registrar of deeds from 1919 until 1946. when he became. judge of Probate Court. He retired in 1957.

Born at Islesford, July 21, 1880, he was the son of Gilbert and Georgia (Tinker) Hadlock. The judge was a member of the Islesford Congregational Church and the Masonic Lodge of Ellsworth. Survivors are three sons, Elmer C. San a Francisco, Wendell S. of Rockland and William E.
